I've received some requests to build up the amount of tutorials here at RCT*Mart, and especially on custom RCT2 object building. To that end, I wanted to ask the members (or those who are interested in learning to build custom objects), what exactly would you guys like to learn?

Amazing Earl and Methusalem have already provided some pretty detailed tutorials for custom rides, and given I'm not that versed in 3D programs or how to output for RCT2 custom rides, I will not be covering that subject.

However things like paths, paths with solid supports, and regular objects are within my realm of experience, so I could cover those subjects. But is there anything else you guys would like to learn?

Post your replies here and I'll try to put some kind of game plan together. It will be helpful for me to know what kind of graphic programs you guys are using, too (MS Paint, Photoshop, etc.).

Well I would be very interested in learning to make paths, and how to position our bmps to be like paths. I have MS Paint and Photoshop too biggrin.gif Not sure about many other tutorials but Im sure members have some great ideas.

Maybe some programs we can use for 3d modelling and some tips about the angle of the objects in rct2...

See my comment above: "Amazing Earl and Methusalem have already provided some pretty detailed tutorials for custom rides, and given I'm not that versed in 3D programs or how to output for RCT2 custom rides, I will not be covering that subject."

Maybe doing a tutorial for a simple wall from start to finish. Paths the same way. Done in a way for those just starting out can easily follow it. Maybe with istructions for both MS Paint and photoshop. I use Paint Shop Pro but have Photo Shop as well as Daz Studio

Listing what versions of the object editor are best for the different types of objects. I have 5 versions of the object editor so which one for which type would help.

Graphic angles would be a good one to and how to best skew for the best angle from a straight image.

Also Sizing large images to best fit with other similar content likw when making statures and stationary objects. I see some done that look out of place because of the size ratio.

And just general guidlines you yourself go by that may help anyone who would like to try their hand at designing quality content.

A good tutorial on the object editor would be great.
Since, I can't seem to figure out how to make my own objects, I use it a lot to edit exsisting abjects.
Sometimes, I can figure it out, sometimes not.
The tutorials I've found hardly skim the suface on what the program can do.
So, it would be great to have a tutorial so that I can make my own.
Unfortuantely, I am stuck with the simple paint that comes pre-loaded,
I have the Anim8or v.o9 3d modelling program, but can't seem to get it to mesh with my RCT programs.

Also, a thorough walk through of scenario creation, ride types and how to build them, etc... There's a lot about the game itself that remains a mystery to those of us who are just getting into the deeper realms of the game.

I drive way too fast to worry about cholesterol!!

If Wyle E. Coyote had enough money to buy all that ACME crap,
why didn't he just buy dinner?

I would love to see a tutorial about making custom path supports, like the ones for the stone paths in UCES and the ones for the Harry Potter event. An animated scenery tutorial would be great too. Thanks in advance if you can make these tutorials!

Yay, I made Spunknit angry, for something to do with the usual welcoming speech!
Yes, this is all I had for my signature. Isn't that sad?

The first tutorial (paths with solid supports) is going to be starting shortly, so check out the RCT Classroom (in the Hardware Department) if you'd like to sign up.

I'm planning a walk-through type tutorial where we'll go step by step and you can ask questions along the way.

How about some tips on sizing, positioning, and alignment of both large and small objects....I know there are times I've done a set and tweak them until they all go together well until I start mixing and matching with other objects then they are slightly off.....may be a pinned post somewhere w/ standardized sizes and positiong......I'd also like to see how you get your large objects (like Hogwarts) To fit together seamlessly

thanks!

I'd like to see a scenery tutorial, for both animated and static objects.
