help? I guess the best way to tackle this is to work out which *.dat files need to go (ie: deleted). I don't think there is any other solution. There are a few dat viewers around the place which enable you to view which object is associated with which file. Have a look around the forums and you'll see a few similar posts with the same problem.

Instead of deleting the un-used objdata .dat files, I would suggest moving them to a different folder on your computer, one that you create, such as "objdata-save" or something similar. Also be careful not to delete/move any objdata files that came with the original game or any of the expansions (WW & TT); I usually move easily identifiable objects such as Harry Potter (starts with HP) or Lord of the Rings (starts with LOTR).

I agree with Orlandude.
Deleting the file is a fix, but what if you can't remember which file held which dat's?
The best solution I have found is to make an "RCT" folder.
Then, copy and move the files into a sub folder named as in his post.
That way, you can easily identify and get back any file you may want later.
Been there, done that.
Now, I have my files sorted this way, and it's much easier to keep up
with the custom stuff, my only problem now is....
WHICH to keep in the actual game folder itself!!!!! LOL!!!
There are TONS of great dat's out there, and choosing which ones to keep and which ones to store can be a tough call.

I drive way too fast to worry about cholesterol!!

If Wyle E. Coyote had enough money to buy all that ACME crap,
why didn't he just buy dinner?
