If you have to uninstall RCT3 & Soaked, there seems to be a problem with the uninstaller. For some reason, it seems like the uninstaller doesn't remove any reference to Soaked from the registry. This can cause serious issues if you want to uninstall Soaked only. Can't be done from the looks of it. You need to completely uninstall RCT3 and then reinstall it.

You need to check out this thread at the Atari forums to help with the fix on this issue.

Thanks to Woolf at the Atari forums for this post; and to Ezra

In order to uninstall the program manually, you will need to edit the system registry and remove a specific key that you may have missed before.

**Warning: Advanced Users Only : Use at your own risk!**

* Editing your registry improperly could corrupt Windows!  This could mean reinstalling Windows and possibly losing all information on your computer!
* Before starting, read the instructions below completely and make sure you understand them.
* If you are unsure of any step here, contact our phone support at (425)951-7106

If you are unable to uninstall the game through the Add/Remove Programs menu you can do it manually as follows:

1. Removing the registry keys
1. Click on Start
2. Click on Run
3. Type REGEDIT
4. Press OK
5. Click on the plus next to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
6. Click on the plus next to Software
7. Click on the plus next to Microsoft
8. Click on the plus next to Windows
9. Click on the plus next to CurrentVersion
10. Click on the plus next to Uninstall
11. Right-click on {EA926717-CE5A-4CB4-AB21-9E6E9565A458}
12. Select Delete
13. Click on the File menu
14. Click on Exit

You should now be able to reinstall Soaked (and go through the original suggestions).

I also removed any reference of Soaked from the this location:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
-Software
--Atari
and deleted the RCT3 Soaked folder located there. I don't know if this had any effect on the process or not, but I did it anyway.

If you have a problem with the Bad Version: 4 error message, check out this thread at the Atari forums. What's happened here is the you've uninstalled Soaked, but the game seems to think that something is missing. Just follow the instructions located there and above and you should be OK.

I just had the same issues and doing all of the above has allowed me to get the game back up and running again. Just thought I'd let you all know how to take care of this problem if you need to do so....

This happened when I was in the beta, try this.
Start > My Computer
C:\Program Files\InstallSheild Install Info
In there, look for a folder hopefully called: {EA926717-CE5A-4CB4-AB21-9E6E9565A458}
Just to make sure, click the setup file. (it has one orange gear on it)
In it, it should have the following info:
[Startup]
AppName=RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 - Soaked
ProductGUID=EA926717-CE5A-4CB4-AB21-9E6E9565A458
CompanyName=Atari
ErrorReportURL=http://www.installshield.com/isetup/ProErrorCentral.asp?ErrorCode=%d : 0x%x&ErrorInfo=%s
MediaFormat=1
LogMode=1
Resource=_Setup.dll
SmallProgress=Y
SplashTime=5
CheckMD5=Y
CmdLine=
ShowPasswordDialog=N
Engine=0
Source=0
AllUsers=1
InstallGuid={EA926717-CE5A-4CB4-AB21-9E6E9565A458}
[Languages]
Default=0x0009
count=1
key0=0x0009
If that is not the one, try one of the other ones, it will be there somewhere.
When you find the one with soaked in it, delete that folder.
Then you may install Soaked again.

One additional thing to note: ALWAYS make a backup of the Windows registry before editing it.

I have to agree with OrlanDude, always make a backup of the registry BEFORE you make any changes to it.

DoomofDays, I don't know if your idea would work if all you were trying to do is completely uninstall Soaked. I think that you would probably have to do what has been recommended by Atari to get the game to play properly, or at all.

DoomOfDays's method simply removes the key in the registry that RCT3 looks for to determine that Soaked is installed. It doesn't actually remove the files -- you have to do that manually.

DoomofDays, I'm not saying that it doesn't work, it's just that it won't work if you're trying to completely uninstall Soaked and not reinstall it. Based on what Rohn said above, it really does sound like the uninstall process doesn't remove several keys referencing Soaked. And if those keys aren't removed, there may be some issues when trying to play the game.

ekimmel, DoomofDays' method doesn't affect anything in the registry. It only looks at the Soaked folder in the Program Files/InstallShield folder. I haven't tried his method since I don't want to remove Soaked and possibley go through the problems that Rohn had.

Hey gang.

I know removing those folders won't completely/correctly uninstall the game, but it DOES work to trick your computer into thinking they're not installed.

You can then reinstall them normally.

I have to say that method worked for me when nothing else would.

I had installed RCT3 and tested the contest entries to make sure they would open without Soaked! When they didn't, I installed Soaked! and they opened fine. Not wanting to keep Soaked! installed, I went to uninstall it from the Add/Remove Programs tab. You can't uninstall it that way, and have to use the original RCT3 disc to uninstall, which forces you to uninstall BOTH games.

However it left 294Megs of the Soaked! installation still visible in Add/Remove programs, which wouldn't remove it (though the panda icon was missing - so it was no longer associated with RCT3).

I then tried to reinstall RCT3 and got a weird "bad version:4" error when I tried to launch RCT3. I tried the patches, no luck. I tried uninstalling RCT3 and reinstalling and uninstalling about 4 times. Still couldn't get anything to work.

I then did a System Restore to the point where I'd properly installed both RCT3 and Soaked! Still got the "bad version: 4" error when I tried to play RCT3. So I did a System Restore to 2 days prior to installing either program. Yet when I installed RCT3 (no Soaked!) yet I still go that "bad version: 4" error just when trying to open RCT3.

I was afraid that I'd somehow triggered the anti-piracy protection on the game and that I'd NEVER get a good install... until DoomOfDays IMd me and tipped me off to the installation folders.

I had to remove both folders for RCT3 and Soaked!

They are:
RCT3 = {907B4640-266B-4A21-92FB-CD1A86CD0F63}
The setup.ini file looks like:
CODE
[Startup]
AppName=RollerCoaster Tycoon® 3
ProductGUID=907B4640-266B-4A21-92FB-CD1A86CD0F63
CompanyName=Atari
ErrorReportURL=http://www.installshield.com/isetup/ProErrorCentral.asp?ErrorCode=%d : 0x%x&ErrorInfo=%s
MediaFormat=1
LogMode=1
Resource=_Setup.dll
SmallProgress=Y
SplashTime=5
CheckMD5=Y
CmdLine=
ShowPasswordDialog=N
Engine=0
Source=0
AllUsers=1
InstallGuid={907B4640-266B-4A21-92FB-CD1A86CD0F63}
[Languages]
Default=0x0009
count=1
key0=0x0009

and

Soaked! = {EA926717-CE5A-4CB4-AB21-9E6E9565A458}
The setup.ini file looks like:
CODE
[Startup]
AppName=RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 - Soaked
ProductGUID=EA926717-CE5A-4CB4-AB21-9E6E9565A458
CompanyName=Atari
ErrorReportURL=http://www.installshield.com/isetup/ProErrorCentral.asp?ErrorCode=%d : 0x%x&ErrorInfo=%s
MediaFormat=1
LogMode=1
Resource=_Setup.dll
SmallProgress=Y
SplashTime=5
CheckMD5=Y
CmdLine=
ShowPasswordDialog=N
Engine=0
Source=0
AllUsers=1
InstallGuid={EA926717-CE5A-4CB4-AB21-9E6E9565A458}
[Languages]
Default=0x0009
count=1
key0=0x0009

Whatever it does when you delete those folders worked and I was then able to do a fresh install (even though RCT3 was installed) of both RCT3 and Soaked!

Obviously, everyone makes any modifications like these at their own risk. I'd tried everything else and nothing was working. Given Atari's reputation for terrible customer service (there's people posting on their forums about not receiving responses to this issue for weeks on end) I figured I'd never be able to run the games.

Thanks to DoomOfDays at least I got them working again.

So what it sounds like here is that InstallShield is looking at its own records and not the registry to see what has been installed. This is interesting, now we can look there to see what programs are what when InstallSheild is the primary means for installation of the program. The Add/Remove Programs function uses the registry.
