This year's Mavericks Big Wave Surfing Competition in Pacifica, CA was held this week. The MavSurfer site just updated with some pics from the competition.

This year about 50,000 spectators attended. They just grab a spot on the cliffs above the beach. It gets bigger and bigger every year.

Very Nice, I surf myself but never came by the chance to catch a nice 20+ wave. Hope for that chance next time I head to Hawii. Surf On~~~~~

banana-lol.gif Yeah! I learned that when I learned how to tie my shoes! It was the easiest thing ever! ...wish I could do that, but the only ocean close to me is the beautiful murky waters of Galveston Beach, full of seaweed and trash! banana_rollseyes.gif

Ahhhh galveston, lovely!

I'cve tried surfing in Cornwall, but I wasn;t very good, by the time I stood up, the surfboard was ont eh beach...

20+ isnt that bad if you know how to break out on a shortboard. But if youve never surfed, then your in for a beating! Its alotta fun except when you cant make it out of a piping wave! But then again the worst that can happen is you fall into water tongue.gif On another hand, you may fall where it breaks and get dragged by your leash, Ouch! All in all my biggest ever wave was around 14-16.

My worst expierience was on a very windy/wavy day, I thought I was about to catch about a 9ft wave, ended up not making it so I pulled back! That sadly, I accidentally didnt get my board out fast enough nosedived right in and got hurled to shore. But Im obsessed with the water, I cant get enough, and Im a Lifeguard in Training biggrin.gif
