Hey RCT*Mart Members!

As interest in RCT continues to diminish, and as new registrations here tend to be more spammers vs. legitimate users, I just wanted to take an informal survey of members who are accessing the site, what you do while you're here, what you'd like to see change, etc.

So if you're reading this message, please just post a quick reply letting us know you're here and how often you check in. Feel free to elaborate on more than that if you have other ideas/suggestions, too.

I'm also here once or twice a day, Just like to see whats going on here.

I'm here a lot, and only wish I had joined much sooner. It has taken me a long time to really get to know the game as I wanted (ie: how to make scenery ect...). I like coming onto the site, but do feel as though my voice echos in here a bit. I would like to have been a part of it in it's hay day, but I still love the site and the feed back I've had on the first park I've shared. Keep up the good work.
P.S. Does anyone know where the best/most comprehensive tutorial for Dr J's object creator might be?

I come here, usually on a daily basis.

You never know what bargains you might find.

I also check in once a day (most of the time) looking for new posts. For the most part, I check for new posts in every section except for the RCT1, RCT3, RCT2 WW, and RCT2 TT sections.

As far as playing RCT2 goes, it's pretty much limited to any unthemed coaster contest going on.

Of course Amazing Earl made a pretty thorough custom ride building tutorial, which you can find here.

As for regular scenery, I've started a tutorial on the Object Editor (since I couldn't find one myself) but am WAY behind on it. So far I've just started detailing the various functions of the Object Editor (in this forum here). Once I get the Urban Jungle/Martropolis scenery completed, I hope to address the tutorials more.

If you have any specific questions, or want to know how to make certain types of objects, please post them to the tutorial topic. I'll try to address specific issues/object construction as part of the on-going tutorial. (For example, if you want a certain animated piece of scenery, I'll build it when I make the step-by-step tutorial for animated scenery -- provided I can make the piece you want.)

Here everyday, not very many people anymore. Are all of the sites like this or are there still some going strong?

I think it's a matter of how much time the site owners have. I personally have had a lot of stuff going on, including moving and now a new job that doesn't allow as much free time during the days. (Working from home as a freelance web designer has its advantages!)

There is also a diminishing interest in RCT (both 2 and 3). And there are other factors, as well.

But I think it's mostly #1.

I'm here about every 1-2 days. Use to be on several times/day but as real life takes it's toll...I try to check out new posts and follow RCT2 forum mostly. Still love playing the game and am working on some projects but nothing moving fast at the current time.

I try to ckeck in every few days', just to see if there are any new posts, or some good stuff being made available.

I check here all the time... But I've never posted much before. Mostly because I haven't felt the need to (I'm not really doing any projects or anything)

I wish I was here sooner like other people when everything was really active. UCES is really cool, I think another user created expansion pack would be nice (And it might restore some interest in RCT).

Anyways... I hope this place doesn't die

I go through spurts mostly because I play a couple of different world building games, I tend to toggle between them every couple of days or weeks. This is my first stop for RCT2, I'm looking for any new downloads, but mostly I'm checking out screen shots to get ideas. It would have been nice if over the years people who created scenery had also created parks to play. Looking at a scenery tab isn't very inspiring if you don't see it at work. It was nice that with the LOTR, UCES and HP projects there was a working park to play.

P.S. still interested in the urban jungle theme.

P.S.S. never been able to figure out where or how to download the Jurassic Park:TLE scenarios.

Thanks Brad, looking forward to it's completion. Now I have to find out how to get square pics (walls, windows, signs ect... to 27 degrees) I'm not going near rides yet.

There was only one final scenario created, known as Isla de Niebla, and that's the main download. But you can also download the separate .zip that has all the individual DATs in it, too.

I check in every other day just looking for new topics or posts. When summer comes around I'll check in every day.

Thanks Brad. I sent you an email, and as usual, rambled some. To everyone out there, RCTMART isn't dead, it's just renewing itself. OK that's how I feel about it. I'm enjoying getting to know some of the people who drop in, and am appreciating the emails and feedback on my park. I'm betting that RCT interest will grow again since there is nothing new out there quite like it. Keep up the good work Brad (time permitting )

I check in probably once a month. As the community is dying it seems like there's less and less reason to visit the sites anymore, which is sad, because I'd love to see the community back to the way it was back in 2000 and 2001.

I agree. I think the whole universal fascination with theme and ride parks might be dwindling some. But like all good things, it'll come back. Meanwhile, I'm still comin to the Mart.

I visit about one a month. Normally, I don´t post but read a lot. I don´t spend that much time anymore on RCT because new house, new job and so on take a lot of free time away.

In my opinion, the whole RCT-community didn´t really survive RCT3, because it divided the gamers in two parties. Those who had a PC to play it and those who didn´t have.
In all forums I read, the RCT2-players had less and less threads and lost interest, because the Look-I-Can-Build-A-Coaster-In-RCT3-Threads took the major part.

After that, a lot people got bored (again the hint: this is my opinion!) and left the forums.

In addition, I think there was nothing as great as the Harry-Potter- and Lord-Of-The-Rings-Parks which were the best you could get when they were released and brought a lot of people here, but that might perhaps not be repeatable...

Perhaps the digital world has stepped forward and left Rollercoaster Tycoon behind.

I dont really come here that often, but i still love RCT. It's kind of sad to see such an awesome forrum and game feeling empty.

OK, so, coming from a guy who hasn't been here in a while, things are quieter. People left, just like *gasp* I did!
So let me explain the problem with bananas (I've neglected these guys over the last 8 months):

I think it's mostly a lack of interest, as people are running out of ideas on what to do with RCT. In my opinion, RCT3 just killed the entire franchise all together. Once that came out, people left faster than, as Spunky would say:
Bubba when he saw his brother facing him in a pick-em-up truck!

The world is moving forward, and RCT is getting left behind. It's sad, because all of the RCT games are great games, but no one has any interest in them anymore.
From the looks of it, I left right before the floodgates opened. There were signs of this happening, starting with when AE left. Attendance was dropping, and, poof! Bye bye, RCT. Well, the poof hasn't happened yet, but it will soon.

Ive stoped in on a daly basist. i dont stay for long because theres nothing new... I would love to do some contest but nobody responds to my replys or pm's

What I would like to see is some compos between the forums of RCT 2. I mentioned this earlier in the year, but it doesn't seem like forums want to create teams, (even though I have a team, waiting to be challenged. at RCT Revalutions.) If you love your home forum folks. Get together and form a team. Let's keep the spirit of RCT alive!

This is supposed to be a friendly competition series. Teams hosting compos, on an off. Think of it like you're high school sports team. Sometimes the team plays at home, other times the team is playing at another forum. This would get people outta the rut of just staying at the home forum, and out looking at the competing forums. Kind of like a social event.

Refer to my reply on your other post. By the way, who would judge this competition?

See, if it, (the competitions,) were held on another forum, (which would make 3 forums involved,) and set up to vote for the best parks, then 3 forums would be getting more traffic and thusly, more activity on those forums.

So let's say RCT Revalutions and RCT Mart had competed, host voting by say, RCT Town, (for example's sake.) The winning team, by vote, would then compete with RCT Town, and the host/voting privledges would be given by the losing team forum.

Once the teams get their parks together and uploaded to the host/voting forum, the people of the community could go to the host forum, DL the parks, and vote for the best of the two.

Mind you, images of the parks should be kept secret. You don't want members of the "opposition" to pick up on what's in the works. This is why it was suggested that a club be formed, so that the park can be freely posted on the private club forum, and discussions about it's development can take place, behind closed doors.

Also, if members already belong to a inter forum competition team, they can't belong to another forum's team. It just stands to reason. I thought I should mention that.

Unforunately RCT Town is closed along with Rct Peeps & a lot other RCT sites.

I am brand new at this site but I am visting it about once or twice a day depending on what day of the week it is.

The problem with competitions and contests is that they take a lot of time and energy on the part of the staff to set up. And then to get 1 or 2 or 3 people to participate is like pulling teeth... and makes you feel like you wasted a lot of effort setting something up that doesn't get full participation.

Like our regular members, our staff has also dwindled over the past year. I don't blame anyone - I myself have been absent quite a bit with a new job, a new relationship, moving back to LA, and so on. Real life just takes precedence.

That doesn't mean I wouldn't like to spend more time here, or do more with what we have. I just can't.

If others want to set up and run the contests (like rlindsay has been doing for RCT3 contests), I'm more than happy to set them up with forum access and to promote things around the site. If people want to just send us a workbench that we can throw up and theme for a contest, that's great too. I (and my current staff) just don't have time to put into the planning, setup, and execution of such events anymore.

Sorry... just the way things are.

We continue to keep the site open and all of our great contests, downloads, and posts from the past are all still accessible to new and old members alike. I've just renewed the domain name and hosting package for another year (6/24 will be our 3rd Birthday!), am working on some Object Editor tutorials (since some new and old members have indicated an interest in still learning how to make custom scenery) and more than likely will be making more custom scenery releases in the future (this always happens when I work on the tutorials and get excited about working with custom objects again).

I'm trying to be open to ideas, and am open to people wanting to get more involved in the site. But I'm also trying to be realistic as to what I *personally* can do (with the skills, time, and resources available to me) to keep this site open and running without overextending myself, being unable to deliver on promises or planned events/programs/contests, and ultimately burning out (again).

I would like to say that I appreciate all that MidwestBoyInLA has done, for this site & RCT2 as well. Without his efforts, support & resources, there would not have been as much fun in the game from his awesome scenery & rides. Also, his continued efforts to keep this site running, to keep it fresh & fun, have given me & numerous others many days of enjoyment, from exciting methods of promoting new releases (think Jurassic Park - fantastic!) to reading the forums daily to see what Wagi will say next!

Thank you my friend, for all you've done & thank you to all who've come to enrich this site & our lives!

I visit every now and then, just to keep up to date of things going on.
I've seen a little downside in the Rct2 World, When i joined there where alot more active people, new parks every week, and new scenery beeing made all the time. I find that this ''World'' Is slowly dying down. And it's sad to see. I'll try my best to post more often, but this is the best i can do at the moment.

I'm alive, or at least semi!
I havent had much time for games lately. Aside from work yes driving me crazy, I have gone back to school part time. I am looking into the real estate business, not necessarily in sales but maybe Appraisal or Commercial Leasing. I just started, but I try to spend alot of time studying as I am taking 2 summer courses and will be taking 2 courses in the fall also. Aside from that, I spend as much time with my niece, who will be 4 next week, as possible. This leaves little to no time for games! But my interest is still there. If I could force myself to limit my time playing I would, but I never keep to my limit!
